Back to Teaching Critical Research
There are currently three research methods courses in the Unisa psychology department - a 2nd year undergraduate course based on Rosnow & Rosenthal's introductory textbook (carefully designed, but very traditional, uses multiple choice assignments and exams), an innovative honours course that is based on action research principles and peer evaluation, and a masters by research report and coursework. Three new undergraduate modules (6-months each) are under development - a generic faculty-wide introduction to research module, a module specific to psychology, and an introductory psychometrics module. The psychometrics module will again be based on action learning (students will have to construct their own questionnaires) and peer evaluation principles.
