Collaborative learning is in part about a sharing of resources and insights, but exactly what is shared among students? In a discussion paper presented at the International Forum of Educational Technology and Society Michael Verhaart (2003) suggests the following:

• "Real world" experiences and examples.
• Information gathered from research.
• Moderation of resources (e.g. course material that has become outdated).
